Let There Be Light

The many colors
of the rising sun,
the long bright day
when things are done,
the cooling breeze
that evening brings -
the world is quite full
of wonderful things.

Featured: little cups cozied
with embroidery become
candle-holders.

Very pretty and they will look lovely. I would love to make little candle cosy covers but I am always worried that cotton will scorch or catch fire because it is flammable. I would love to know what you think and about your own experiences.

Amalia, your embroidery makes my heart sing. I haven't done any needlework in so long. What joy I remember as a young woman stitching little pictures. Your poem is so sweet just like your embroidery. Indeed the world is full of wonderful things. After the tragic event yesterday, my heart needed some beauty and innocence.

Red Rose Alley said...

We sure need light in our world right now, Amalia. The embroidered candle holders are sweet. The next time you light one, think of your blog friend, Sheri, from across the world. : )

I have embroidery envy. I've just returned to embroidery after a 35 year hiatus due to the impending arrival of my first grandchild. Unfortunately I'm no longer as confident and neat as I once was, but I keep reminding myself that "practice makes perfect".
Your prose is always delightful. xxx

To offer light in dark times - a beautiful idea, thank you!

handmade by amalia said...

That is exactly how I use them :-)

handmade by amalia said...

I've used them quite a few times with no problems. The glass shields the fabric and it doesn't even heat up. I only use them when tea lights.

handmade by amalia said...

I like it, Fiona, coming soon to a blog near you... :-)

handmade by amalia said...

I will! And I have five of them by now :-)
