A Time for Every Season

In a quiet garden,
sitting on a tree,
a bird got to talking
with a busy bee.

The bee wanted to know:
tell me, my dear -
what is your favorite
time of the year?

The bird thought deeply
season by season,
wanting to impress
the bee with her reason.

She thought of the hope
and the promise of spring;
of the lazy heat
that summer will bring.

Of autumn's lovely colors,
all smokey and gold;
and the cruel beauty
of the harsh winter's cold.

She thought of happy singing
when summer is bright,
and finding a cozy shelter
for the winter's night.

And finally she said
let me answer, dear:
my favorite must always be
the time that is here.

Featured: weekend photos taken in
the time that is here -
glorious spring.

Thanks for sharing the lovely photos and poem, Amalia. Although I fuss about being too hot or too cold from time to time, I hope to more frequently be like your wise bird who knows her favorite season "must always be the time that is here." xx

I really try to be content, in whatever season, I happen to be in. Don't like to spend time, longing for another season.

Oh please, where did you find the picture of the mason jar glasses, with straws???? Oh I do love them!!!!!

Your photos are beautiful, Amalia, and so is your poem. The carrots and tomatoes look so delicious,and the emerging grape vines speak of a full harvest in the fall. There is still snow on the ground where I live in Colorado and spring seems far away, but your photos have brought me a portion of it this evening and your poem is a reminder to enjoy the present as the best time.

Each season has it's own beauty.
I've had enough of Summer and I'm ready for the golden colours and tones of Autumn.
Each season is beautiful and I tend to live the moment whereever I am.
Oh Amalia your photographs today are very special.
My favourites are the geranium in the baby's bath and the old tubular seasaw - I can almost hear the children's squeals of delight as they rocked to and fro!
Wishing you a happy Spring weekend!

My goodness you get a lot of comments Amalia!! I thought I would never get to the bottom of the page ;)
I have to agree with that thoughtful little bird. I do so love living in a country with a wide range of changes in each of the four seasons. It gives each day something different to experience. Your photos are beautiful. You seem to find the best of the worn bits and pieces around you. Now that rocking metal boat is something that reminds me of my childhood. My dad made one very similar out of wood (and I only just got rid of it a couple of years ago). Have a wonderful weekend Amalia,
