Life is short, eat the cookie

Early one morning
as I opened my eyes
I thought I'd go out
to see the sun rise.

The world was still dark,
the air had a sting,
that lovely cool freshness
you'd expect from spring.

I didn't see a daffodil,
no tulips to be had,
nor crocuses or hyacinths
but I was not sad.

The humble little flowers,
the ones you hardly know,
were out blooming gaily
and put on quite a show.

Whole beds of color,
pink and yellow and white,
hugged every tree
and filled me with delight.

The time went by quickly
the sun began to shine,
I bid 'good day' to the flowers
and went to start mine.

Birds of a Feather

When the floods came,
a clever bee
told her animal friends
they had to flee.

The situation was hot
and becoming hotter,
so they built a boat
and took to the water.

The sailed on the boat
through rain and fog
when suddenly - trouble,
they got stuck on a log.

The animals were fit,
they’ve been to the gym,
but it soon turned out
none could swim.

It was getting hopeless
when a friendly dove
sent over a dolphin
to give them a shove.

It always works best
when birds of a feather
help each other
and stick together.

Simply Spring

The garden's in chaos,
things are quite bad
and Spring slumbers on
snoring like mad.

A snail hurries over
and gives Spring a shake,
planning, if needed
to bribe him with cake.

"Wake up, wake up
you have to see reason -
Winter is leaving
and we don't have a season!"

Spring jumps and mutters:
"Sorry! Sorry my dear,
nobody told me
I'm on early this year."

Small Things Make a Life

A seed to sow
A place to go
A walk to take
Something to make,
A life.

A seed to sow -
Working on my autumn veggie garden.
A place to go -
Planning for happier days.
A walk to take -
A favorite again now that the weather is cooler.
Something to make -
Made these napkin holders for the table
from recycled paper rolls.
Life. So precious.

Best Time of the Year

 Autumn was thinking
he might launch a protest -
there are four seasons out there
and his is the shortest.

I told him: "why worry,
when it is perfectly clear -
you are always our favorite
time of the year."

A Nice Day Out

Summer was not working,
he was sitting in the shade
and mumbling to himself:
"I quit, don't need to get paid.

I thought I got the good season,
the one with games and fun,
nobody thought to mention
I'd be getting sun and more sun.

Having a sunny disposition
is harder than I thought
when I'm always getting burnt
and I'm always always hot!"

in the hot sun and were
very happy about it.

A Nice Day Out

Said spring to winter:
"cheer up, you gloomy fellow,"
Answered winter to spring:
"you're a sunny cup of jello."

before going into isolation.
Wishing you all great health
and all good things.
