Early one morning
as I opened my eyes
I thought I'd go out
to see the sun rise.
The world was still dark,
the air had a sting,
that lovely cool freshness
you'd expect from spring.
I didn't see a daffodil,
no tulips to be had,
nor crocuses or hyacinths
but I was not sad.
The humble little flowers,
the ones you hardly know,
were out blooming gaily
and put on quite a show.
Whole beds of color,
pink and yellow and white,
hugged every tree
and filled me with delight.
The time went by quickly
the sun began to shine,
I bid 'good day' to the flowers
and went to start mine.

Those are beautiful and so cool.
What a lovely idea. Almost too beautiful to eat (almost!) I hope you enjoyed them.
Best wishes

How is this even possible to be so beautiful? I would frame that picture of the cookies and put it on my wall, I would!
Such a lovely idea. I've used lavender flowers on shortbread before, but none of the others. I think I need to be a bit more adventurous! xx

Your poem beautifully captures that crisp, quiet magic of a spring morning walk, and turning those very same humble garden flowers into a stunning tray of decorated butter cookies is pure genius.

A lovely poem and a lovely treat. The humble flowers deserve their moment in the spotlight, and your cookies are almost too pretty to eat. Almost!
I usually see people use edible flowers in salads. Great idea you have here and a good poem to go with it.
They call such childish poems "nonsense", but I think them to be anything but nonsense, indeed!

“Such a delightful poem, Amalia — you always capture the magic in the small things. The little blooms putting on their own show made me smile, and those butter cookies with edible flowers are just beautiful. Your posts are always a treat.”
Those cookies look amazing!
Elegant and beautiful! I've seen this done on focaccia but I don't think I've seen cookies done like this and they're so lovely. I agree! Eat the cookie :) Featuring when my party opens. Thank you for sharing.
Wildflowers are my favourites. The cookies look so festive.

I love that you baked with flowers. I've never done that before however always love when folks add them to things like salads and now cookies! How fun. Cheers, Ivy.
The poem is a delight and so are the adorable cookies!! I once used pansy flowers in ice cubes and my (grown) sons thought it was so funny ( but in a kind way)..
Your flower garden looks gorgeous and oh my those cookies look so yummy!
