Birds of a Feather

When the floods came,
a clever bee
told her animal friends
they had to flee.

The situation was hot
and becoming hotter,
so they built a boat
and took to the water.

The sailed on the boat
through rain and fog
when suddenly - trouble,
they got stuck on a log.

The animals were fit,
they’ve been to the gym,
but it soon turned out
none could swim.

It was getting hopeless
when a friendly dove
sent over a dolphin
to give them a shove.

It always works best
when birds of a feather
help each other
and stick together.

Such a charming poem and lovely toys made to accompany it. Do you write the poem first or make it up after creating the toys?

Oh, that dear Dove helping out; they are one of life's great joys. We have had flooding in California, but up here in the mountains, we're Ok. Your scene of the seashells and dolphin is delightful. I hope the new year is being kind to you so far, Amalia. : )
