Five reasons I'm giving Five Stars to:
Maybe This Time
by Jennifer Crusie
1. The plot - Andie Miller's ex-husband needs a favor.
He finds himself the guardian of two children living
in a creepy old house and there are rumors of strange
things. Andie, he is convinced, can sort it out.
2. The protagonist - Andie is my kind of woman.
I liked her from page one and she didn't put a
foot wrong. She is resourceful and intrepid,
loyal and loving. And she bakes.
3. The things that go bump in the night - I quite like ghosts.
Wouldn't necessarily want them in my home, but
in a grand crumbling mansion - they are almost a must.
4. The message - this book, as the title delicately implies,
is about second chances and these are a precious commodity.
5. Sometimes you really want a light, funny, happily-ever-after
book that is well written and touches your heart.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! The good thing about getting snow in March is that it does melt fast. All we are left with are the piles of snow created by shoveling and plowing..
Hugs,
Deb

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
I love Jennifer Crusie! When I want a light, quick read, I always choose her books...they just make you "feel good"...LOL Love and hugs!!
I alternate my reading between thoughtful, and light and fluffy when the combination of Zuma's politics, ongoing drought and finally an earthquake in Botswana need escapism.
So what did Andie bake? When you get to the part when she bakes, did it make you want to bake too? Is that why you hung out the tea towels? You baked and then did up the dishes (good for you btw!) and they looked so pretty you snapped a photo of them? You baked something ... hmmmm ... something light & fluffy like the book! Now I have a sudden urge to buy the book AND bake ;)
Wendy
Very interesting!
A light, funny, happily-ever-after book that is well written and touches my heart is what I always want. :)

Must look about this book. On the other hand I know the title "Maybe this Time" sung by Liza Minelly...
...you have funny tea towels.
By the way, if interesting here is a good translation of a Ingeborg Bachmann poem: Every Day - Alle Tage in German Language

Very nice! Have a lovely Day! 🌻🌻🌻
Me neither! Always room for one more :-)
I like the title already :-) I'll look it up.
I can't imagine, we're half-way to summer already
You're puffing me up no end with these comments, Kim, just so you know :-)
No, they are proper vintage ones :-)
The comment isn't bad either, Amy :-)
Can't wait for the final verdict :-)
I've read her Circle of Friends years ago, it was beautiful.
I'm going to look her up, see what else she's written. I hope I didn't read her best one first, it always happens to me :-)
Wow. The book had a lot to make up for. Reality bites.
Andie made banana bread and chocolate chip cookies. I made mini muffins with Kumquats and orange peel. Hers were legendary and mine were quite good. And I did do the dishes after. I've been known to let them pile up in the sink but for now it is all good.
That is so kind.
Thanks for the poem - I've read it and it is wonderful. Sad and serious and touching, like life.
Thank you for this beautiful comment, Marcia.
I think I am definitely going to have read this one! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm (love the tea towels!) xo Kathleen| Our Hopeful Home
Great review, Amaria!
I just ordered the book on amazon, and it will reach in this month!!
A light, funny, and happily are beautiful for our hearts :))
