Once Upon a Time

Long ago when I was four
I think I was a bit of a bore,
my room was always such a mess
and mother had to help me dress.

I didn't like to share my toys
and sometimes fought with other boys,
I always wanted something sweet
and couldn't even cross the street.

I think back on those times and laugh -
now that I am four-and-a-half.

Featured: This embroidery was created
from a drawing by my niece Michal.
Still wondering what to make with it.

Such, such fun, Amalia. I love the fact he didn't take very long to be all grown up. Your embroidery is so sweet.

Que trabalho divertido!
Que tal uma almofada? Acho que ficaria legal, ainda mais para o quarto dos pequenos...

Abração e ótimo dia.

What a lovely poem Amalia! I loved it and couldn't help but laugh at the ending :)
I always highly appreciate projects like this - when kids' drawings are transferred onto a textile project. I am sorry I didn't make many with my kids when they were younger.
I don't know how big the piece is but to throw some ideas I think a cushion or a (tablet) cover would be nice. Last but not least, my compliments to Michal on her inspirational drawings!

6 months is a long time for a 4 year old, plenty of time to grow up! Love your colourful version, so true to the original and yet bright and colourful too.

What a cute poem, and an adorable picture. Your niece is a very talented artist! I've embroidered pictures drawn by little peeps too and framed them in embroidery hoops to keep it all very simple. I love the addition of the coloured felts, they really liven it up!

I just love how you recreate the children's drawings Amalia! Did Michal claim this one for herself? She might have ideas on what you could make with it.
Your poem is so wonderful and funny! I love how whimsical your poetry is. Someday you should gather them all together in a book!

I agree with Kim. A book with all these beautiful embroideries and poems, would be a lovely thing.

But she also has a laughing mind and a tender heart, as we can see in her felt rendition. She's beautiful and looks happy, surrounded by her pretty flowers. :-)
