10 things I've learned during my week in France:
1. Every day is a good day when it begins
with a cafe creme and a croissant.
2. You can be tres chic in flat heels.
3. It must be the sunny weather -
everyone we met was welcoming and full of smiles.
4. On the other hand -
never ever come between a shopkeeper and his lunch break.
5. That elegant man in the tuxedo walking down the street
could be a celebrity or a waiter.
6. A lot of people seem to be fond of very small dogs
and might carry them in their purse.
7. Sometimes a promised 'jardin exotique'
is just a nice cactus garden.
8. French women drink a lot of water and
go for 'less is more' when it comes to makeup.
9. A big basket with vegetables from the market, a baguette
and a bouquet of flowers - that is a thing of beauty.
10. If you live in a flat - even a small balcony is a blessing.
If you live in the South of France - wear sunscreen!

How very gorgeous! Your photos take me there. I can smell the sea air, the cafe' and the money....errr I mean sunscreen ;) thanks for the little trip and your list is very accurate and very funny!
I feel like I've just been on vacation, complete with breakfast: cafe creme and a croissant. And snacks. I'm glad to know less is more when it comes to make-up. I didn't know I was on the cutting edge. Thank you, Amalia.
P.S. What's in those bars next to the chocolate chip cookies? I want one with my coffee right now. Did you partake?
You took us on a wonderful tour, I felt myself drifting back although it has been a few years since I was last there.

It's been a long time since my last visit to Cannes, this is an incredibly beautiful city but what is worth even more is the surroundings and the whole region. Thanks for sharing and resuming your experience Amalia!

I haven't been to Cannes for nearly thirty years so thanks for the trip back. How lucky to be there during the film festival. Your photographs are stunning, just how I imagine Cannes to be now...trés chic.xx
Thank you :-) If you knew what they charge for sunscreen... too funny
I suppose even the French couldn't carry full makeup in this sun. Glad to hear that you are gumbo chic.
Apples, nuts, raisins and a bit of jam, I think. And - yes I did :-)
I know! We don't have any of these around here, what colors.
I only saw a small part of Cannes, the beach, the festival and the old city. I'm sure it's not all glamours. But how funny that our paths cross again. I'm going to challenge you again in June, we'll see...
Oh, what a fabulous week you've had! I love the photos of the bakeries and narrow streets and delicious coffee. I'm so glad you had the opportunity to take such a wonderful trip!
What a thought! We could have stopped for a coffee. Hope you had a great trip.
It wasn't completely a pleasure trip, I went to the festival for work. But I enjoyed every single moment and there was time to do holiday things and friends to do them with. I'm not one of the stars but I felt like one, I had a great time.
And just like that a new column in born. Thank you for the encouragement, Carla.
Thank you Olympia. We had a larger tour a few years ago, visited Nice and all the little villages. I loved it, especially all the little museums.
It is funny. We have so much sun that I actually wouldn't mind a little rain on my holiday, but it is always sunny and nice.
My pleasure! Glad you came along.
Thank you for visiting me Dee.
I'm back home now and actually glad to be back in my routine, would you believe it :-)
Yes, I've been going for a few years now for work, it is a wonderful experience.
They threatened us with rain every single day but it never came. For once I was prepared - I brought both sunscreen and an umbrella :-)
What a fun week-I want to go next time with you! Gorgeous photos!
Thank you Akiko! I'm glad you came to visit.
Thank you Mersad! How nice.
I know exactly what you mean!
You should! We'll have a great time.
Seems like you are travelling a lot and it sure looks like great fun. I could use some of that right now with all the rain we have been getting.
Your photos are magical! What beauty you've captured!!!
big hugs,
Cheryl
My mouth is watering even more now! What an amazing place to visit, and I hope the sunscreen wisdom wasn't learned the hard way, it does look pretty hot there.
looks and sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed yourself. :)
Very nice pictures. I like the cafe creme and croissant idea. xoxo
Amalia, you LUCKY girl! What beauty, sights, and smells you were surrounded with in la belle France! You have some of my favourite things here today: PEONIES, pizza, cappuccinos, croissants, colourful, old buildings, coastlines, etc....!!! Thanks for the gorgeous pics, I SO ENJOYED them, my friend!
xoxo
Poppy
Amalia, these photos are so incredibly beautiful, and I love your list of ten things. Thank you for taking us on a tour. xoox Su
Amalia, these pictures from France are so wonderful. There were a few that I really admired............the scrumptious food and the yummy loaves of bread, the balcony with the red flowers, the coffee drinks, and the mysterious alleys. The French people do know how to live beautifully, don't they?
~Sheri

Your photos of Cannes are just amazing! I've never been there, but love how you captured so many wonderful details. I so agree about croissants and a good cafe creme being a great way to start the day! I sure do miss my morning croissants!!
We've vacationed here several times. Fabulous! I love your list, by the way.
You have learned useful things! :-) But mostly, the photos are amazing. What talent.
The stuff of magic here, peonies and sidewalk art, Federico Fellini in a rock garden!
You seem to know exactly what we'd like to see!
Thank you! I'm still living on the memories :-)
It was, unfortunately, but not on this trip. This time I was armed and ready :-)
You leave the most beautiful comments, Poppy, I've said so before. And now that I know that we have pizza in common...
That was on my mind the whole week - that the French really know how to live.
Thank you for visiting me Caz, so nice to see you here.
As do I now that I am back home :-)
Thank you, Julie, how very nice.
Well, I surprised there wasn't more cake. We all like cake :-)
I just love this post ... the colours are so great, a joy to look at.
Thank you
