A Five Star Review

Five reasons I'm giving five stars to
Murder at Madame Tussauds by Jim Eldridge.

1. The setting - We are in London, 1896, and one
of the nightwatchmen at the Madame Tussauds museum
is found dead while his colleague is missing.

2. The protagonists - Daniel Wilson was once a
Scotland Yard detective, part of the team that hunted
Jack the Ripper. His fiancé Abigail Fenton is
an archeologist and Egyptologist. Together they are
‘The Museum Detectives’ and they are great at it.

3. The history - There are many snippets of
historical details in the book that never overtake the plot.
I enjoyed learning more about the origins of the
Madame Tussauds museum and the wax business.

4. The tone - The tone of the book was spot
on for me. This is not a gentle, cozy read.
It is fairly fast paced with plenty of twists and a
rising pile of bodies, but still not too gory or dark.
A fun read.

5. More to come - This is the sixth book in
the Museum Murders series (you guessed it,
each book centers around a different museum)
but perfect as a stand-alone. It is the
first I've read and will now go back to read others.

Featured: I made stickers for some
handmade gifts.

I'll put this author on my reading list! We love so many of the same books. I'm reading one in a series by Elizabeth Peters right now, set in Egypt! Have you read the Amelia Peabody series? I've only read a few but I LOVE them! It's nice to travel to another country...even if it is in books! Hugs, Diane

Learning more about Madame Tussauds must have been very interesting. I have only been in the one in London, and walked past the one in Amsterdam several times last weekend. Sorry it took so long for me to visit back. Life is nearly getting back to normal after our time away.

Thats a great review Amalia -- your description tells me I'd love this mystery series. I don't like a whole lot of gore and dark, but lately have been stuck on series that are actually *too* cozy, if that makes sense . I'm off to look these up on Amazon and hope they are available!

I started this fun series based on your recommendation Amalia -- just finished the second one where Abigail is introduced and I'm glad to know that they become engaged as I thought they should (I am happy for the spoiler). I have Book #3 on my Kindle queue. Thanks for the review -- I would never have found this series without you.
