When the Animals Got Together

If we ever need a leader,
said the nice giraffe,
remember I'm the tallest
and really like to laugh.

The lion disagreed:
of course I am king,
and did also I mention
that I can dance and sing?

The frog answered him:
I'm not at all convinced,
as everyone well knows
inside I am a prince.

The dinosaur roared
you are all the worst -
don't you remember?
I was here first!

Featured: I made these
paper roll animals
for my nephew Ariel.

The afterlife of paper rolls is truly incredible! I have tons of ideas on my board on pinterest - but the animals I think are the most joyous of all :)

So creative and such a simple and affordable set of toys. I love that you re-use and recycle materials. You are also indirectly teaching your nephew how to be resourceful. Toys like these stimulate the imagination and are very good for children's development.

As usual your poetry is whimsy and wonderful.

How sweet your Ariel is. Love all his curly hair. He looks as if he is having a merry old time playing with his menagerie. As always your poem is oozing quaint whimsy. I wonder if the critters ever did decide which one would be the better leader. =)

Dewena said...

I don't know how you do it! A simple craft, that would take me hours, and the animals unrecognizable. A poem that reads like it just slipped easily out of your mind but that I know is genius in its simplicity. And that innocent look your camera captured on the nephew blessed with curls and an imagination equal to entering the world of giraffe, lion, frog and dinosaur.

You did it and took us with you,
Dewena
