The Battle of the Seasons

Autumn was very upset,
the day was not going well;
he went to his friend, the sun.
to talk (he tried not to yell):

"That summer just won't go away,
he's lingering beyond any reason,
and it is not at all fair -
when he knows that this is my season.

Summer has so much time
from winter until fall,
while everyone knows full well,
my season is the shortest of all!"

The sun answered: "Autumn,
I know you're a friend of mine.
But I have to side with summer -
'cause he just makes me shine."

A biased author, I'm so ready for
a proper autumn and welcoming it
with a scarf for my beautiful niece Roni.

Hi Amalia, what a sweet poem to Autumn. The scarf is gorgeous, and the colours just right for the season. Enjoy.

Very pretty scarf (and the recipient, too). Hot and humid here and a dust storm just rolled through. I'm definitely looking forward to cooler weather.

I adore this poem. You are so talented with verse, but also with knitting. The scarf is so pretty. Maybe soon we will wear it.

Haha, what a cute poem! As for me, Autumn around here is too short, especially this year, but not because Summer won't go away, but because Winter stuck his cold nose in far too early.

However, this week we are promised a proper autumn of sunshine and crisp air and smells of leaves and earth (not snow).

I hope it's a week where you can wear your sweaters and scarves.

Lovely poem! Although I have to say I agree with Autumn. I think it's very much time to snuggle up with a knitted blanket on the sofa, listening to a rainy storm with hot tea and handmade socks! ♥

Nice! I ♥ the "sjaal". Very warm colors. We have very warm autumn days now. This is because the remnants of tropical hurricanes Leslie an Michael are leaving over the Mediterranean, instead of crossing our country as expected. I am also knitting :-)

We went from summer to winter temps, but it looks like we may be getting some Autumn temps now, which I am thankful for, I agree with your wonderful poem that Fall does not last long enough at all, either summer last longer or winter comes to early :(
Your scarf is just gorgeous and looks wonderful on your niece, she will love it once winter hits.

It is very warm here as well, and I would love some cooler temps. Beautiful scarf!

Roni is a beautiful girl and the scarf suits her perfectly. It's warm here, but the temperatures are dropping at night to just above freezing, so we wear coats in the morning and shed them in the afternoon. Autumn is such a lovely season and it's definitely winning over summer here. I hope things cool down for you soon.

Again.....a wonderfully lyrical poem that dances along with the sunshine. Amalia, don't be cross with me....but I have hitched my wagon to Summer. I know, I know, Autumn is the most gloriously hued season BUT we all know what follows. Though of course, your beautifully knitted woolly will help to ward off the chilly breath of Ol' Man Winter and then there's the fire pit. How wonderful to sit by its warmth and glow. Love the colours in Roni's scarf!
