Barcelona

I've just come back from an excellent vacation in Barcelona.
The city is so relaxed and beautiful and inviting
you can't help but have a good time.

These photos were all taken at the Monastery of Pedralbes
a Gothic monastery founded by King James II of Aragon
for his wife Elisenda de Montcada in 1326

It is well preserved and cool and tranquil, as you'd expect
and full of treasures and religious objects.

My personal favorites were the simple tools and baskets
evidence of the daily lives of the nuns

There is a central garden with orange trees and herbs
and a small fish pond in the middle

It was very sunny when we were there so the photos are bright
Barcelona! Can't wait to go back.

How fascinating! I've been especially interested in Barcelona ever since taking one of those intriguing quizzes on Facebook, this one was to determine the city in the world that you should live in. I got Barcelona! I hope you post more pictures soon.

That is the best part of history for me, to glimpse the 'little' lives behind the big events. There is something so moving and honest in the simple tools of every day.

It really was :-) Thanks for visiting me, Toni.

Thank you Nanda. And I thought your blog was lovely!

Thank you Magali! Though I must admit we have plenty of orange trees here, our climate is Mediterranean and really quite similar to Spain. Which is a polite way of saying it gets incredibly hot in the summer :-)

So now I know that you are elegant and fun with a special talent for mixing the old with the new :-)
I must admit that the whole time I was there I was thinking that I would love to live there for a year or so.

Kind indeed! It rained as we landed but I was too busy to running through the raindrops without an umbrella to take any photos :-) After that it was all sunshine.
