The garden's in chaos,
things are quite bad
and Spring slumbers on
snoring like mad.
A snail hurries over
and gives Spring a shake,
planning, if needed
to bribe him with cake.
"Wake up, wake up
you have to see reason -
Winter is leaving
and we don't have a season!"
Spring jumps and mutters:
"Sorry! Sorry my dear,
nobody told me
I'm on early this year."
nobody told me
I'm on early this year."

ReplyDeleteYeay for Spring!! We are stuck in some strange pattern here. Winter won't let go, but spring keeps trying to take over!
ReplyDeleteIt is back and forth here as well, like a crazy tango, but spring is definitely winning :-)
DeleteSpring is trying to be early here but we just got snowed on again after a week of 60-70 degree weather! LOVE your poem and stitched picture!
ReplyDeleteOh I think this may be one of my favorite pieces of all the lovely handiwork you have created. I also really enjoyed all of the lovely images in your previous post. It reminded me of when I lived on the island of Crete.

ReplyDeleteThat's adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute poem and darling needle point.
ReplyDeleteThe line that a Snail gives Spring a shake really makes me laugh! And as always an ingenious handmade creation from you! Here, Spring must be confused, because when looking out the window, there is snow on my deck (balcony)!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for linking to ALL SEASONS! (Hope you know that the requirement, that a photo has to be from the same season, has been done away with, a few weeks ago, since that maybe too hard for people who have long winters). Have a lovely week:)
Wonderful whimsy -- sampler/bag and poem are both making me smile broadly! Such a fun post.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little poem. I love your embroidery work. So charming and just the right colors. xoox Su

Spring is coming, indeed, but in its own time. It is still raining some here. Your poems always delight me, Amalia. And every time I leave here, there is a smile on my face. Thank you for that, dear.

What a sweet design!
ReplyDeleteHello Amalia, your sampler is so cute. I love the poem, just adorable. Time for spring to wake up! Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteLOL this just made me laugh when I saw it, so darn cute! But here Spring has been coming early off and on. We have 2-3 days of 55-60+ degrees ( not normal for our area ) then we drop down to the 30's and have snow, then we go back up again....I have daffodils ready to come into bloom a month early...everything is very confused! :)
ReplyDeleteDear Amalia
ReplyDeleteI just loved your sampler.
I just loved your words
Good wishes for this month of March
All the best Jan
Such a delightful little post and piece! Thank you for sharing with us on the Art of Home-Making Mondays at Strangers & Pilgrims on Earth!:)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Lovely verse!
ReplyDeleteExcept here it is supposed to be Autumn but Summer's hanging on. My garden is also a bit chaotic as the summer crops are dying off and being harvested to make room for new autumn plantings that I am eager to do.
This week I prepared a new bed for some Sweet Peas. They need to be planted before St Patrick's Day for best blooming. Their perfume is so sweet and I am looking forward to their delights this year.
Oh, I love Sweet Peas. The have the nicest scent and such pretty colors, we don't see them much around here anymore.
DeleteSpring showed up with thunderstorms last night...but there's snow in the forecast for the weekend. Ugh. Have a terrific week!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable Amalia! And, as always, your poetry is so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet scene in your sampler, Amalia. We've had warm and sunny days and since yesterday, we've been experiencing strong winds and HAIL!

Spring's party is slumbering... I love that! Spring is definitely in slumber here! We got 3 inches of snow last night, and it is so beautiful... but with the longer days, I know winter can't win out much longer! Your shopping bag will be delightful, love the cozy spring scene! Your gift of poetry always makes me smile :)
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, Amalia! I normally love winter, but this year, I can't wait for Spring :)

Lovely poem and your sampler is adorable. I'd love to see the finished shopping bag too - if you have a fabric pen you could write your poem on the back. xx

Oh my gosh that sampler is absolutely adorable (as is the poem)! Did you design it yourself? It will make a lovely shopping bag. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm! xo Kathleen Our Hopeful Home
ReplyDeleteI didn't plan the sampler, just made it up as I went along. I was expecting it to be uneven as winging it does come with peril but for once I'm happy :-)

Such a cute bag-to-be. We still have heaps of snow here, but we are getting there... slowly. Ice leaves the sea in the beginning of May normally.
