is old man Winter,
muttering to himself
and feeling quite bitter:
"For all my hard work,
the quality weather I bring -

Ooo... wonderful images of waking nature! Nothing started sprouting here yet, but the weather has been getting steadily warmer so I believe we will witness the first signs of spring soon! Lovely photos you shared with us Amalia!

Such joy to see these beautiful pictures and to, in many cases, wonder what they are. Then such a fun poem written by Old Man Winter. He may be bitter, but that bitter stuff is terribly catchy. He's very happily entrenched here and not going anywhere yet. More's the pity... Thank you for the smiles!

ReplyDeletePoor Ol' Man Winter! What terrible things were you saying about him?! We're still in his clutches here, but the pine tree's green boughs are waggling in the (shhhhh) spring breeze today! Another month and he'll be packing his backs for the southern hemisphere. Your photos are lovely ... you find beauty in all that you see. What amazing food delicacies you have! I'm curious about the flat nut "cakes"? and the pink rolls.

The flat nut cakes are molded together with honey and spices and cut into slices like a cake. They are very good and the delight of dentists around the country.
DeleteThe pink rolls are a coconut treat. I used to love them as a child but they are too sweet for me now. I still admire their wonderful pinkness, though.
No I will never miss old man Winter, no matter how hot it gets, I hope he is getting ready to pack his suitcase here in the UK. Lovely photos, number 6 looks like a huge reptile's mouth! :-)

Well, we are almost neighbors after all. I think you get a much colder winter, though. We've had a pretty harsh winter, by our standards, are are rewarded by more flowers than ever :-)
DeleteWe had a picnic, but not homemade. We stopped by a little food market and bought some things. They were all yummy.

You have captured the essence of Old Man Winter eloquently! He just doesn't want to leave, lol... Your images were simply delightful and although many of the food items I had no idea what they were, they certainly looked amazing and delicious! Your world is so different from mine, and I love the little peeks that you share. You have a way of capturing the heart of the moment you are in with the small details! Your little picnic looked wonderful! Spring is a ways off yet, we are to get more snow still. Perhaps by May spring will make its perky appearance :)

Tis so true Amalia, the push to welcome Spring. Although I must admit now I am living in a new hot climate in Thailand, my roots are in a cold European winter which weren't after all too bad... generally!! I will look forward to see what the changes of seasons bring for us, maybe we just go from hot and humid to hot and humid and wet!! Bring back your grumpy Mr Old Man Winter :) Great photos as always!
