Autumn has arrived,
that shy and bashful season,
it always enters quietly
as if it had no reason.
It won't outstay its welcome,
its time with us is brief,
you can see it on the sidewalk
in the face of a fallen leaf.
You can sense it in the morning
hidden in the gloomy chill,
and find it in the evening
as the day grows shorter still.
It is present in the sky,
guiding that flock of birds,
its beauty an inspiration
for prose and verse and words.

ReplyDeleteThat blanket and the poem are wonderful. Fall doesn't last nearly long enough for me. Summer lingers here and then quickly turns to cooler than I like. Fall days draw me outside for sure.

Such lovely words! I love the colorful crochet afghan on the rocker in the photo!
ReplyDeleteExcellent poem Amalia!
ReplyDeleteLove your autumn poem. Autumn is colourful and beautiful. Pretty winter blanket.
ReplyDeleteSpring is short here - depending on whether winter brought our rain, as it did this year.
ReplyDeleteBut autumn, is just a blink, since we don't have trees turning colour. An oak or liquidamber in a garden. March lilies signal autumn has arrived.
This is a great ode to autumn - and a very pretty, colorful crochet blanket. Maybe I'll make a similar blanket out of the leftover wool when I'm done with my granny blanket (for our first grandchild) ...
