it would be cool
if mom and dad let me
drive to school?
I'd be ready on time,
sometimes even early,
cause I want to go
with my bestie Shirley.
I'll drive the car
Shirley will play,
and I'm almost certain
we can find the way.
Kids will admire us
as they ride on their bike,
and we'll sing along
with the songs that we like.
There is only one problem
that worries me still -
that worries me still -
I'm a bit small yet
and can't reach the wheel.
♡
Wishing you all
a happy, cake-filled day.

These poems are just a delight and must make children giggle. I lke the near rhyme in the last stanza. I’d be working with “squeal” or “real/reel” or something average like that. The cake looks yummy. Is that Shirley in pink?

SO cute. And this made me smile as my mother's name was Shirley.
ReplyDeleteMight be a good thing that she can't reach the wheel yet (and probably the pedals either...)!
ReplyDeleteEstupenda tu entrada! Espero verte pronto por mi blog! Feliz fin de semana precios@! ♥️♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteThat's a very lovely poem. Amalia! I have a friend whose 12 year old daughter started writing a blog when she was 8- or 9. She writes poems, love crafts, handmade cards for her family and friends. I don't know if she still writes I never asked. Will find out.
ReplyDeleteVery nice poem. I would love a piece of that cake. Happy day!
ReplyDeletersrs pequeno e ainda tem muito o que aproveitar a vida, sem se preocupar com dirigir.
ReplyDeleteO bolo parece delicioso!
Abraços esmagadores e dias felizes.
I can picture my 6, almost 7, year old granddaughter feeling exactly this way! May that time be a long way off. But that cake, is it carrot? Instant craving!
ReplyDeleteBom dia, o poema é lindo e o bolo é saboroso certamente.

ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely my favourite verse:
"Kids will admire us as they ride on their bike,
and we'll sing along with the songs that we like."
Such a gorgeously joyful and happy image!
Mmmmm....I want a cake filled day, too, but a lemon tart will have to do! Have a delicious weekend, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your poem, Amalia:) It makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteYour cake looks delightful, yum yum yum!
Haha! Cute rhyme. Pertinent to my family as we have young drivers and drivers-to-be. Your poetry gave me a giggle. Thank you for a bright moment in an ordinary day.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I enjoyed that... even the thought about having a cake filled day!
ReplyDeleteQue rico! Te espero por mi blog! Feliz noche! ♥️♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun poem, Amalia and thank goodness those little ones can't reach the wheel! My children managed to loose the brakes on the family car one day and it glided into the bushes! No harm done, but they learned their lesson :) Any day with cake is my favorite day. Hugs to you xo Karen
