One day I met the color brown
and asked it: Brown, why do you frown?
"I can't remember, I'm trying to think,
why did I grow up wanting to be pink?"

The potholder is so cute, I'd only want to display it. Love the red wildflowers in a brown and green background. The baklava -- I'd love to taste that one! I really should have a phone bag. My phone is forever lost in the bottom of my purse. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove the potholder but really IU love all the pictures Amalia!! Send you love!!!
ReplyDeleteI never liked brown, but I'm starting to appreciate it as it has so many shades and is actually a very warm colour that goes with many other colours.
ReplyDeleteYour potholder is stunning!!! Love it and pinned it immediately.
Merry Christmas Amalia!
Love brown, it is so earthy. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYou do brown so beautifully, Amalia, says this pink girl. =) Such a sweet potholder.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit of a pink girl myself but there is room in my heart for other colors :-)
DeleteLove all of your pictures,my favorites are two and four, both delightful!Love brown!Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove your 'browns' Amalia and that potholder is just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute poem. Very few people say that brown is their favorite color...too bad. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy husband had a partner at his firm who had a Greek grandmother, who made wonderful baklava. She shared a tin of it with us every Christmas. It was divine. The girl no longer works with hubby, and I have truly missed that baklava! Yours looks awesome and delicious!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Jane
Homemade baklava. Wow. I think this kind is called 'bird'w nest', it does look a bit like it.
DeleteI am a fan of brown using it as a base for some vibrant additions. Love what you did to the potholder, stunning.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Not everyone needs to be a star :-)
DeleteFor YEARS brown was my favorite color... in recent years, I've leaned more toward the shades of gray... (not like the book)... ;) Love all these beautiful snippets of brown! The baklava looks particularly yummy! and I love the mushrooms! Have a wonderful day, Amalia! blessings and hugs ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and embroidery.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays
What an adorable potholder; love the colours, and brown and red compliment each other so beautifully, I think. Are those poppies I see in your neck of the woods, in December?? Your honey drenched, nutty delight looks like what the Greeks call kataifi, (angel hair phyllo dough), but I see that some of your readers are calling it baklava, (sheets of phyllo dough for the Greeks). In any case, it looks scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays, my friend!

Brown is one of my neutrals - black and white can be too severe sometimes and brown can have a cosy warmth to it. I see that some of your brown things are comfort things like food and cushions. I love how you have chosen a colour theme for this post and it is a colour that doesn't always get the attention it deserves. Yes there are some icky browns but there are also some lovely ones, as there are in all colours. It's a matter of finding the right shade for the right job. Sometimes brown can be downright dirty and other times it is sweet and luscious like chocolate. An earthy colour, it is a good representation of life with its ups and downs. Wishing you everything good in life and a happy holiday season. Thank you for reading my blog through the year and I hope to see you in 2018. Cheers! xx
ReplyDeleteI wondered what to expect when I saw your post title, your brown things are delightful:)
ReplyDeleteLove the poem and some great work here. All the best for 2018. Diane
ReplyDeleteI love brown and I think your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeletemmmmm. I thought the Baklava looked very interesting and so good!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Baklava...made in the most adorable nests...stunning!
ReplyDeleteYour Baklava looks like a work of art- almost too pretty to eat! Your embroidered items are charming and your photography always stunning. Thanks for sharing! And brown, don't frown.
ReplyDeleteCute poem, pink and brown is one of my favorite combos :)
ReplyDeleteThat pot holder is so sweet, just love it!! Always fun to have the first blooms of the year come out to color our world!!
The cushion is so very sweet. Do you know I have never tried Baklava, maybe I will have to change that in the new year.
Your poems are always really clever and imaginative. I don't like brown ,my favourite is pink! The potholder is very pretty and the anemones in the photo made me smile because I know we will also have them here in Greece next month. We make lots of sweets like baklava and kantaifi in my country. But I prefer cakes.... .Best wishes,Tina x
ReplyDeleteI prefer cakes as well :-)
DeleteI love your brown things and your photos are great, needless to talk about your poems! I wish you wonderful season holidays!
ReplyDeleteThat potholder is too pretty to use! It will be a while before we see any flowers here but we do have some baklava. Love your photos and poem as always, best wishes for 2018. Hx
ReplyDeleteAlways sooooo sweet! I love your brown things. You have spotted kalaniot already?
ReplyDeleteKalaniot and Narkisim as well. A crazy winter.
DeleteBrown is such a rounded colour
ReplyDeleteIt goes with many things
With pinks and blues and reds and yellow
And sparkling golden rings
I love your images Amalia, the pot holder and cot cushion are my favourites xx
LOL. Thanks for that, Polly.
DeleteBrown was my son's favorite color for a time when he was little. I thought that was crazy but it is not a bad color at all, as you have shown us here. Love the potholder! I have never seen Baklava look quite like that!
ReplyDeleteAmalia, funny poem. The potholder, cushion and phone bag are beautiful. Wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou can even make brown look glorious. That Ikea hack is gorgeous! Happy New Year my friend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBrown looks good here, Amalia. Darling pot holder and cute poem, my friend. ♥
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Amalia! Love them all, and your poem too!
ReplyDeleteI always love to see what you’ve stitched; the potholder is gorgeous and I love how you use the children’s drawings in your stitcheries ..... a brilliant idea!
But bestest of all I love your sweet phone holder!!!!!
That’s such a cute way to make a handle; I always seem to have lots of teeny strips of fabric left over and this is a great way to use them. I soooo need a phone bag ...... then I will be able to pull the phone out of my main bag easily!!
Thanks for the inspiration!
Wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Hugs, Barbara xx
I LOVE the potholder. You are so talented, Amalia! The Baklava looks delicious and I am so envious of your first wild flowers!
ReplyDeleteI always come here to be completely charmed, Amalia! Love all the sweetness that you create and share! Wishing you and your loved ones health and happiness in the coming New Year! Hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteThe pot holder is charming, Amalia, but no more so than your lovely poem. A wonderful ode to brown in this post, and I think the baklava is mouthwatering.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI want to come over for baklava. It has been years since I had some.
xx oo
Carla
P.S. Did you catch a reindeer?
Of course I caught a reindeer! Who do you think ate the empty half of the baklava tray? But then he said that his tummy hurt and left.
DeleteGreat brown things and your poem is so cute!

Next year I would love to sew something like you :)
Have a Happy New Year!!

I wish you a beautiful year, in brown and pink! Love xox
ReplyDeleteHi Amalia, the "baklava" remind me of "vogelnestjes" or pate:) In Athens we had the baklava truly swimming in the sticky stuff! Thank you for linking to ALL SEASONS - when I look at your url it looks like you're not living in Holland anymore? In any case, have a lovely New Year with many pleasant new things and surprises:)
ReplyDeleteHello Amalia! Lovely images. I would like some baklava, please. YUM! Have a great new day, new week and a happy New Year!

Hi Amalia, brown is such a nice neutral color. I like brown pants with a pink sweater... LOL! Happy New Year to you!

Happy New Year to you and yours :)
Lovely words, lovey things! Happy new year:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and pictures Amalia. Best of the New Year to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
I love the color brown, tan, cream, and all variations of brown. I didn't think I was so much into brown until a friend once told me to throw in a splash of red for color in my living room. I just thought about it. lol
ReplyDeleteBrown is a color that plays well with others :-)
DeleteBaklava is so delicious. Yours looks a little different than ours here, but I'm sure the Yummiest is the same. I'm starting to like the color brown more with the clothes I wear.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Amalia. Although I'm taking a blog break, I'm still visiting friend's blog, and stop by anytime when the girls post and say hello.

ReplyDeleteI love the potholder, that's so pretty, a great way to make something plain more interesting. I've heard of baklava but I've never tried it, I'd love to though now that I've seen what it looks like.
ReplyDeleteYou have certainly elevated brown to a beautiful position in the color scheme of things! Baklava looks delicious, and yes, rather sticky, I've never had it. Love the mobile phone purse too! :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, I love it! Brown does sometimes get a bad wrap, but I sure do love brown dirt in my garden! :) Thanks for sharing with SYC.
