10 reasons why it is sometimes nice
to be a tourist in your own country:
1. The natives all speak your language.
2. You have your car with you. And you know where to park it.
3. However well you know a place,
there is always something new to discover.
4. There is a chance you'll meet a friend along the way,
hopefully someone you've not seen for ages.
5. There is a chance you'll make a new friend.
6. No airport security, no plane delays, no jet-lag.
7. And you can buy anything you want!
No luggage limitations.
8. If you're not in an exploring mood
you sit yourself in a coffee shop and just stay there.
You can always come back.
9. Traffic jams on the way home?
Well, if you don't have your music with you, water and a snack
you really should have planned better.
10. At the end of the day you sleep in your own bed.
♡

Cannot complain with neither of your 10 reasons:)

Thank you, Ingrid. The embroidery was part of an art exhibit and it depicts the fifth day of creation. I chose to include it because we were visiting on a Thursday, the fifth day of our week. And because it was pink.

Anna
My favorite reason for touring in your own home area is #10. sleeping in your own bed.
ReplyDeleteI always love the flowers (and cactus) in various containers. I notice the little overhangs above each door.
As I sip my own coffee now, I want to eat the lunch you pictured. Ummm mmm.
Thank you for sharing this part of your so lovely world with us, my darling Amalia !
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying your day, I'm wishing you much love for your weekend to come,
sending blessings to you across the many miles
Dany
Thanks for the walk. I enjoyed the sites.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like old world converging with the new.
ReplyDeleteTel Aviv, I think it would be someplace I would visit even with all of the hassles!
Tel Aviv is way more modern that my photos would indicate. I always gravitate towards rust :-)
DeleteThank you for sharing your tour of this very colorful city, Amalia. You have such an eye for seeing the beauty in everything and your photos are stunning! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing Tel Aviv with us all---I hope to visit sometime in the future, but for now, I will just enjoy your lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my walk with you, Amalia. I love your thoughts about visiting close to home. All very good reasons to enjoy! xo ♥
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing photos of your part of the world, Amalia. I notice that the color blue appears in quite a few of your pictures. I wonder if that's a conscious choice. Whether it is or not, I love the blue. And of course the food. I always love the delicious-looking food and lattes (?) you show us. Have a great weekend! Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteLuckily, the blues went well with the sky and not my mood :-)
DeleteYou are brilliant, Amalia! And I agree with you; on the weekends, I am a tourist in my own city. I am always finding a new corner of town, quaint with shoppes, people, homes, lakes, etc.....and at the end of the day, I can sleep in my own bed. This summer we are not traveling out of state, but enjoying what our beautiful state has to offer.
ReplyDeleteYou are in Tel Aviv? COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't live in Tel Aviv but in Haifa, which is about an hour away to the North. I should do a post on Haifa as well, it is every bit as beautiful (if not more :-)
DeleteSo nice to walk with you - and sit with you with that rather nice looking cup of coffee ...
ReplyDeleteI always love the different colours and textures in your photo's.
Happy Weekend Wishes
All the best Jan
Thank you for the tour and sharing your world with us. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteIt is so true! Exploring your own area is fun and not intimidating. Besides, the day we go on a trip I am already thinking of getting back home! I love the worn, chippiness of the buildings in your pictures. It all looks so quaint. LOVE your 10 things list!
ReplyDeleteI love traveling. But I do love that moment when you open the door and you are home again.
DeleteGreat list. Very true! I didn't know that's where you were from! Thank you for the pretty tour, I have never been. The doors are charming, love the colors!! And I've always been a sucker for palm trees! ;)
ReplyDeleteAmalia, I watched your photos with great interest. You can see many details that we do not always see. Have a nice weekend:)
ReplyDeleteA lovely tour, fascinating!
ReplyDeleteLovely tour. It really allows me to see a part of your world. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures, so interesting to see new places, thanks for the tour :) I love your reasons to be a tourist in your own country, and it is so true if you just get out how many things that are just outside your door that you don't see or do in your day to day life :) Hope you are enjoying a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteReason number 11, your blogging friends so enjoy seeing your lovely corner of the world. Especially me!
ReplyDeleteIt is going on the list!
DeleteAnd a good reason to armchair travel with a sweet friend??? My friend takes the best photos of all the things everyone else just walked past. She always remembers to look up to the left and right and down to her feet so we don't miss a thing. I keep looking at that two story house with a bricked up front door ... it looks like it has a story to tell.
ReplyDeleteI hope you remembered your water & snacks and made it home before dark ;)
Wendy x
Wendy! Wow! What an amazing comment. It made my day.
DeleteWendy, what a great tip from your friend who catches the best photos because she looks all around her, keeping her eyes open for the glimpses of wonder around her. I'll be remembering this when hubby and I head for England soon.
DeleteAmelia, I was taking notes from all the beautiful photos you've been sharing ... You catch so many delightful beauties with your camera.
Brenda :)
Oh, so true, Amalia! And for those of us joining you, we get to tag along with someone who knows their way around!
ReplyDeleteI love that list! So sensical and #9 is a hoot! Wonderful photos of Tel Aviv capturing some of the out of the way and not often photographed delights. My personal favorite is of that delicious looking lunch.
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell a lie, it was delicious :-)
DeleteToday we walked on our beach.
ReplyDeleteSome interesting graffiti on your route.
Lovely to go on your morning walk with you! I like your thoughts on being a tourist in your own country!
ReplyDelete#10 is my most favorite reason of all!
ReplyDeleteI love the olive container being re-purposed as a planter.
I wonder how many olives you have to eat to get it.
DeleteVery interesting pictures. I do agree to all of the 10 reasons. It is really so.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice time,
Christine

Very nice photos, and beautiful post. Big Hug, Mariuccia
ReplyDeleteTen great reasons I agree with! Thanks for my tour of your part of the world. I love walking in foreign countries, up close and personal. The only way to get to know and a different culture. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI agree! The only way to know a place is to go for a walk.
DeleteOh, how I love your photos, Amalia. That balcony is so charming. Yes, it's easier to travel when it's not so far from our towns. That's why I don't mind traveling to different places in California.
ReplyDeleteHappy May day!
~Sheri
SO true! Thank you for taking us along on your morning walk. Your photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Amalia! I lost my travel mojo a few years ago and now I enjoy exploring my own little corner of the world, as well as living vicariously through my blogger friends. Thank you for the armchair travel!
ReplyDeleteGreat reasons to be a tourist in your own town. Tel Aviv looks like a great mix of old and new. What fun to see it through your lens.
ReplyDeleteGreat walk, Amalia. Tel Aviv looks like a great place with some beautiful buildings. Your lunch looks yummy! xx
ReplyDeleteGreat walk, Amalia. Tel Aviv looks like a great place with some beautiful buildings. Your lunch looks yummy! xx
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the walk, Amalia. I didn't expect this interesting mix of architecture in your town. The condominium buildings with the long porches look American and the two houses in the last picture have a typical German structure.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind eating this kind of breakfast right now. :)
Have a great day, Amalia!
Hugs,
Julia
Some of the photos were taken in the American Colony. You have a good eye, Julia.
DeleteBeautiful Photos! Thanks so much for sharing!! Thanks for visiting too!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie
Hello, I enjoyed this walk and tour of Tel Aviv. Your photos are wonderful and I enjoyed your top 10. Thanks for taking me along. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteI must say I enjoyed my armchair tour with you Amalia! Love how you captured all the amazing colors in your photos! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, love the bright colors! I agree with you, especially on airport security!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my stroll, along with you in Tel Aviv! Those are all great reasons to stay in one's own area!!
ReplyDeleteYour reasons why being a tourist in your own country is nice -I choose jetlag!! (gets me every time!), having a car with you without having to rent one ($$), you speak the language -is not important to me, sleeping in your own bed - debatable in the USA, since the distances are humongous!
ReplyDeleteYou have a talent to keep people entertained:):) Love the building fronts -first I thought garages, but then I saw the air-conditioners!
Awesome post Amalia -many thanks for linking this for SEASONS! Have a happy week.
We try to visit local attractions whenever possible and do enjoy getting home to sleep in our own bed. Being 50 miles from Washington D.C. gives us plenty to do when the mood strikes. Lovely photos. I found it interesting that people are few in the photos.
ReplyDeleteIt took a bit of patience to wait for them to step out of the frame :-)
Delete:-) I totally agree about sleeping in your own bed.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this tour as always. You do such a great job!
Happy May,
Carla
Gostei muito do blogue e da criatividade com coisas tão simples!

ReplyDeleteBom dia, minha querida!
ReplyDeleteMuito boas suas razões!!!
Foi um lindo passeio, com direito a flores, céu azul e belas portas. Gostei da arte com a boneca rs.
Lógico, o café não podia faltar!!!
Abraços e feliz dia.

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I think more people should be tourists in our own countries, there is so much to explore and enjoy :o) I loved seeing the beautiful pictures of where you live, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTania
I dind your country inspiring to the soul... The foto's have me in a state of creating today, as for the discription of how to plan a holiday here it sounds like the hustle and getting around is not such a problem. The last foto reminds me of my cathedrals and temples I am creating from my pottery.
ReplyDeleteIt's the steeple that peaks around the baxk side of the home... Oh to see this beauty on a daily basis as you delight in daily. It must be so inspiring to discover the new beauty your eyes catch day to day.
Thank you dear for your beauty and grace, and best visiting me over at my home.
Xx

ReplyDeleteI love your list of reason to travel closeby! And the photos show a wonderful city.
ReplyDeleteDear Amalia:
ReplyDeleteAre you saying you live in Israel? We went there in 1999 and spent the first and last night in Tel Aviv. I love Israel and would love to go back. I still see that Mediterranean Sea there in my mind and so many places. I loved Old Jerusalem and cried as the bus winded around to the city. Thanks for sharing and linking.
Your photos are beautiful and so are your thoughts on touring your own city. I think we forget to see the beauty in our surroundings when we see them everday. Thanks for the lovely photos and the reminder to slow down and enjoy where we are :) XO-Wendi@H2OBungalow

ReplyDeleteAs always you pick such an amazing range of subjects to photograph and show here. Why did I not realize where you lived before this? Isn't blogging wonderful? I've met so many nice women from around the world and get to have a peek into their lives. As I'm an armchair traveler, being a tourist at home is very attractive to me. And now we have a whole new microsystem to explore in our new home!
ReplyDeleteI like that we share so many things the geography takes a back seat.

DeleteWhat a lovely post, Amalia...I always so enjoy your tours. It feels like I am right there with you. I love the idea of looking at your own area as a tourist!

Amalia! Good morning! Thank you kindly for coming to visit my spring post. OH those crabapple trees we have here, they are the most glorious in their pink variety, but they also come in a deeper raspberry pink and white. If you follow Instagram, you can see my page and find more photos of the lilacs here. What a glorious spring this is! Have a super day, Anita
