Mission Impossible

A little bear
set himself a mission -
he was going to climb
on top of a cushion.

The dolls said no,
it's too high at the top,
and asked quite nicely
whether he'd stop.

The bear was hurt
by their worry and doubt,
and decided it was time
to be out and about.

He laced his boots,
thought what to pack,
and finally decided
to take only a snack.

The dolls scowled
and began to scoff:
shoes on a cushion?
take them right off!

He started the climb
with his feet bare and cold,
but none of that mattered
he was feeling so bold.

At first it was fun,
he was going quite strong,
but two minutes later
it all went wrong.

His heart began racing,
his mouth was dry
and he was dizzy
from being so high.

He felt his feet go
and managed a frown
before starting to tumble
all the way down.

He fell on the sofa
so it wasn't rough,
and I'll say this for the dolls -
they tried not to laugh.

It seems your little bear dressed in climbing attire to match the mountainous cushion. :) So cute and lovely!

Love your colours there and brilliant poem as always, especially the dolls trying not to laugh! I find myself looking at crochet with slightly different eyes now Venetia is making things, she has a cushion on the go at the moment, but isn't sure how she's going to do the back of it. I always tend to do nice deep envelope backs with fabric cushions but she's not so sure with crochet. What's your favourite way to create a back and attach it all?

Oh, how sweet he is! Such cute cheeks for kissing and blowing bubbles against. So glad for the 'safe' tumble.

What a glorious pillow. Ever since I found your earlier afghan with such delightful colours in your squares, I've been thinking about getting some new yarn and doing some of my own square crocheting again. It's been years. Now I am inspired all over again. I LOVE those colours and the fringe in this pillow.

Thanks for a wonderful post, Amalia. It's always a joy to come visit.

I crochet the back much as I do the front and sew them together. The cushion doesn't come out but as it was made with acrylic yarn the is no problem throwing it whole into the washing machine. Also, I usually do different designs or color schemes for each side and it's like having two cushions to play with.
